Built around the stripped-down bass setup Mike Herrera has relied on through decades of performing with MxPx, the Sterling by Music Man Herrera Artist Series StingRay is all about punch, simplicity, and road-ready performance.

The Herrera starts with the unmistakable StingRay body shape, finished in bold Orange Creamsicle with a matching painted headstock. A white pearloid pickguard featuring the custom MxPx “Pokinatcha” artist graphic gives this signature model a distinctive look that immediately sets it apart.

A passive ceramic humbucker provides the direct, punchy voice at the heart of the instrument. In keeping with Herrera’s own streamlined setup, the electronics are intentionally simplified to one functional volume control. The other two knobs are nonfunctional “dummy” knobs by design, preserving the familiar three-knob StingRay appearance while recreating Herrera’s personal control configuration. There’s no active preamp and no battery to worry about—just plug in, turn up, and play.

A hard maple neck and hard maple fingerboard provide a familiar, responsive feel, with a 9.5" radius, 21 medium frets, and full 34" scale length. The neck attaches with Sterling’s sturdy 6-bolt pattern, while open-gear tuners and a fixed bridge complete this straightforward, dependable signature instrument.
