Roland Aerophone AE-20W Digital Wind Instrument, Pearl White

Expressive wind playing in a streamlined design

Explore acoustic and electronic sounds with the compact Roland Aerophone AE-20. Developed with wind synth artists, it brings the playing response of Aerophone Pro into a streamlined instrument for practice, performance, and production.

Acoustic instruments and synthesizer sounds

SuperNATURAL supplies saxophones, clarinet, flute, trumpet, strings, and world instruments. ZEN-Core expands the palette with vintage and modern synthesizer voices.

Responsive control

A reed-style mouthpiece, adjustable breath and bite sensors, and natural pitch and vibrato control support expressive playing. Select saxophone, clarinet, flute, recorder, brass, or custom fingering, with transposition and a seven-octave range.

Practice, perform, and record

Play through the internal speakers, practice with headphones, or connect the output to an amplifier or PA. Bluetooth audio supports accompaniment; USB audio/MIDI connects to compatible music software.

Learn with Aerophone Lesson

The free Aerophone Lesson app for iOS and Android helps new players become comfortable with the instrument and gives experienced musicians structured practice tools. Tutorial videos cover holding the Aerophone and using the mouthpiece. An interactive display shows the notes associated with your fingering, including changes made through transposition or fingering settings.

Work through 12 fingering lessons and 11 guided songs, with fingering feedback and scoring to track progress. Bluetooth playback lets you practice with music from a mobile device. Slow a song down or loop a section while learning a difficult passage.

Personalize sounds with Aerophone Pro Editor

The free Aerophone Pro Editor for iOS and Android connects wirelessly over Bluetooth and provides detailed editing beyond the onboard controls. Build Scenes with up to four layered tones, edit ZEN-Core sounds and effects, and tailor the instrument's response to your technique.

Assign parameters to breath, bite, and physical controls, then adjust curves and value ranges for the response you want. MIDI control settings can also be customized for use with external instruments. The Favorites screen provides quick sound recall, while the librarian organizes Scenes into groups and set lists. Save and recall your creations using a mobile device or cloud storage.

Expand with compatible sounds

Compatible Roland Cloud Sound Packs provide additional tones. The AE-20 also supports importing ZEN-Core tones exported from compatible Roland instruments and Scenes from Aerophone Pro AE-30. An imported Scene may not sound as expected if it uses unsupported tones or samples. Not all Roland Cloud expansions are compatible; check the supported content before importing.
