Dingwall SP1 4-String Multi-Scale Bass, Gloss Metallic Black, Rosewood

The Dingwall SP1 brings the spirit of the Canadian Custom Shop Super P into Dingwall's Ready-to-Play series — combining classic passive bass character with Dingwall's modern multi-scale design and exceptional tonal versatility.

This 4-string SP1 is finished in Gloss Metallic Black with a rosewood fingerboard and matte black pickguard. Its alder body is paired with a one-piece maple bolt-on neck, while Dingwall's 32"–34.25" multi-scale geometry provides a comfortable, familiar feel with excellent balance, definition and string tension.

At an actual measured weight of just 8 lb 7.6 oz, this is a nicely manageable example of the SP1-4. A Dingwall padded gig bag is included.

32"–34.25" Multi-Scale Design

The SP1 4-string uses Dingwall's 32"–34.25" multi-scale layout, providing additional scale length and definition on the lower strings while progressively shortening toward the treble side. The result combines the clarity and even response associated with Dingwall's multi-scale instruments with a compact, comfortable and distinctly traditional playing feel.

Passive Dual-P + FD3n Electronics

The SP1 is completely passive — no battery or onboard active EQ required. A Dingwall Dual-P pickup in the neck position provides the authoritative punch, warmth and low-mid character associated with a great P-style bass, while an FD3n bridge pickup expands the tonal range with additional articulation and definition.

A 4-position Quad-Tone selector provides four useful pickup configurations, allowing either pickup to be used individually or the two pickups to be combined in parallel or series. Master volume and master tone controls keep operation intuitive and straightforward while providing an unusually broad range of passive tones.
