Big Tone, Smooth Feel — All in a Short Scale. Punchy, warm, and full of character — this short-scale bass delivers tone that plays as smooth as it sounds. The GB-Short Scale blends comfort, color, and versatility with a roasted maple neck, punchy humbucker, and Markbass® preamp that lets you dial in everything from smooth funk to gritty rock. The 30-inch short scale and a body that’s about 20% more compact than standard offer easy playability and comfort—perfect for players who value portability and smooth feel. Roasted Maple Neck & Fretboard. By treating the maple in an oxygen-free oven at a high temperature, the wood becomes more stable and takes on a golden-brown hue for enhanced stability, a vintage look, and a bold, powerful tone. The Markbass® MB-1 preamp provides a very natural and transparent boost that does not color the organic nature or resonance of the instrument’s woods. The combination of crystal clarity and natural warmth delivers a passive-style feel with smooth lows, fullbodied mids, and bell-like highs.
