The Cole Clark TL2EC-BLBL-AE-HUM takes the acoustic-electric concept considerably further, combining an all-solid Australian Blackwood Thinline Grand Auditorium with Cole Clark's acclaimed PG3 acoustic pickup system and a dedicated bridge-position humbucker with its own independent output.

The concept grew out of something Cole Clark frequently encountered among touring musicians: acoustic players adding electric-guitar pickups to their instruments to create overdriven and distorted tones. A conventional soundhole pickup can accomplish this to a degree, but its position is far from ideal for the focused, articulate electric tones normally associated with a bridge pickup, and retrofitting one can interfere with the guitar's rosette and aesthetics.

Cole Clark's solution is a purpose-built dual-output instrument. The Cole Clark Balanced Humbucker is positioned near the bridge, where an electric guitarist would expect it, and features dedicated volume and tone controls. Its signal is completely independent of the guitar's acoustic electronics and has its own output jack, allowing it to be sent directly to a guitar amplifier, pedalboard, modeler, or amp simulator.

At the same time, the guitar retains Cole Clark's patented PG3 three-way acoustic pickup system, delivering the natural, dynamic amplified acoustic sound for which Cole Clark guitars are known. A convenient three-way selector on the face of the guitar lets you choose Acoustic, Electric, or Both.

The two-output design is particularly powerful in a live or studio setting. Send the PG3 acoustic signal to a PA, acoustic amplifier, or recording chain while routing the humbucker separately through electric-guitar effects and amplification. The two sounds can then be blended, layered, looped, processed independently, or switched between as the performance demands, without forcing either pickup through a signal path designed for the other.

Beyond its electronics, the TL2EC-BLBL-AE-HUM is a distinctive instrument in its own right. Its internally carved AA-grade Australian Blackwood top, back, and sides are paired with a Queensland Maple neck, She Oak fretboard and bridge, timber binding and purfling, and Abalone Snowflake inlays. The thinner Grand Auditorium body makes it especially comfortable on stage while retaining the character and responsiveness of an all-solid-timber Cole Clark acoustic.
