Introduced in 1978, the DS-1 Distortion was BOSS’s first distortion pedal, introducing a hard-edged attack and smooth sustain that forever changed the sound of rock. The classic BOSS orange stomp has remained a favorite of players across generations, with its iconic tone heard on countless hit records. The DS-1’s abrasive yet musical voice is a hallmark of a wide range of genres, from classic rock and heavy metal to grunge, indie, and more. Decades later, this legendary pedal still holds its own on the modern pedalboard.

The DS-1 delivers a tonal character that’s unmistakable and irreplaceable.
