The Becos CompIQ YUNA Pro is a premium all-analog compressor and soft limiter that packs the control and audio quality of a sophisticated studio compressor into an exceptionally compact pedal. Designed for bass, guitar, and other instruments or audio sources, YUNA combines transparent dynamics control with powerful tone-shaping options while remaining intuitive enough to dial in quickly.

This listing is for the standard YUNA configuration without the optional DITOS transformer-balanced output module.

At the heart of YUNA is the THAT Corp. 4320 Analog Engine®, combining a true RMS-level detector with a high-performance Blackmer® VCA. Unlike simple peak-detection compressors, YUNA's RMS detector responds to average signal level over time, allowing natural, musical dynamics control that can range from subtle leveling to punchy, assertive soft limiting.

The streamlined COMP control simultaneously adjusts threshold and ratio. Turn it toward MORE and the threshold progressively lowers while the compression ratio increases, giving you increasing amounts of compression without requiring separate threshold and ratio controls. Lower settings provide gentle, musical compression, while higher settings produce a more pronounced effect and can move into soft-limiting territory while retaining clarity.

A unique TIMING control adjusts attack and release together in opposite directions. At one end you'll find fast attack with slow release; as you turn the control, attack progressively slows while release becomes faster. This makes it easy to move from smooth, controlled compression to a punchier response that preserves more of the initial transient. A separate Fast/Slower switch provides two timing ranges for further adjustment.

YUNA also provides sophisticated control over how different frequencies trigger compression. The variable Lows side-chain filter offers ±12 dB of adjustment at 90 Hz and below. Cutting lows in the detector path reduces the tendency of powerful low frequencies to dominate the compression response – particularly useful for bass – while boosting them makes the compressor more sensitive to low-frequency and lower-level signals.

The onboard X-EQ is a tilting equalizer with ±6 dB of adjustment and two selectable pivot frequencies: 300 Hz for bass and 1 kHz for guitar. Turn it one way to emphasize highs while reducing lows, or the other way to emphasize lows while reducing highs. At the center position, the EQ leaves the tonal balance unchanged.

A dedicated Dry/Wet Mix control makes parallel compression easy. Blend the uncompressed signal back into the compressed signal to retain natural attack and dynamics while adding the body, sustain, and consistency of compression – particularly useful when using stronger compression or limiting settings.

Inside the pedal, YUNA offers even more flexibility. Jumper-selectable Feed-Forward and Feed-Back compression modes provide two different response characteristics. Feed-Forward operation emphasizes speed and precision and can range from light compression to punchy limiting, while Feed-Back mode provides a smoother, more open, highly transparent response for naturally evening out dynamics.

The RMS reference level is also internally selectable between -10 dBu, -20 dBu, and -30 dBu. This allows YUNA to accommodate a wide range of sources, from low-output pickups to typical instrument-level signals and stronger line-level equipment.

Four internally selectable Voicing modes – Flat, Spark, Tight, and Punch – provide additional tonal tailoring. Flat keeps the response neutral, Spark adds clarity to the highs, Tight subtly reshapes the mids for additional depth, and Punch provides a warmer tonal character that can work especially well with mid-rich bass instruments.

An 8-LED gain-reduction meter gives you immediate visual feedback on how much compression is taking place, while up to +26 dB of make-up gain provides plenty of output for level matching or driving downstream equipment.

YUNA uses premium components throughout its all-analog signal path, including Burr-Brown™ FET audio ICs, low-tolerance metal-film resistors, high-quality film capacitors, gold-plated multilayer PCBs, and gold-plated microswitches. The result is a clean, low-noise compressor designed to preserve the character of your instrument while giving you extensive control over its dynamics and tonal balance.

Pedalboard-friendly power: The standard YUNA can run from an internal 9V battery or an external 9–12V DC center-negative power supply. Power consumption is less than 45 mA at 9V DC and less than 54 mA at 12V DC. Power supply is not included.

Each CompIQ YUNA Pro is hand-assembled in Vienna, Austria.
